The center was the target of a heinous hate crime. Our friend Jorge Milian from the Palm Beach Post posted a story about it.

At times like this we have to remain unidos y con fortaleza.
Let's remember what Nelson Mandela once said, "No one is born hating another person because of the color of their skin, or his background, or his religion. People must learn to hate, and if they can learn to hate, they can be taught to love, for love comes more naturally to the human heart than its opposite."
To the Guatemalan Community.
The people who vandalized your building are an embarrassment to all Americans. Please accept our apology for them.

The Jewish community of Palm Beach County, sends our support to the Guatemala Mayan Center and the people they serve. We stand with you in the fight against hatred and bigotry. Unfortunately we have seen a rise in antisemitism, hate and xenophobia associated with the pandemic. We will never accept such acts in our community and we must speak out and condemn it in the strongest terms. This is a time when we should all come together in recognizing our shared humanity.
