EARLY
LEARNING
ParentChild+ uses an in-home approach, making it easier for underserved families facing poverty, language barriers, and transportation challenges to access high-quality early childhood education. Our program serves 170 families and consists of twice weekly visits for two to three year-olds, providing parent and child important educational support and community.
CONNECTING
LANGUAGE & CULTURE
Early Learning Specialist's (ELS's) support parents in preparing their children for academic success, strengthening families and communities through intensive, consistent long-term home visiting. Over the course of a 24-week program, the ELS provides:
-
48 home visits
-
12 high quality books and educational materials
-
Accompanying guide sheets that support learning through play
Each family is paired with an ELS who shares their cultural background and language. It is essential to provide early educational programming in the native language of the home so that parents can be involved in their child's academic success. We are proud of our culturally informed ELS team who speak a wide variety of languages — including English, Spanish, Q'anjob'al, Akateko, and Popti'.
