FOOD DISTRIBUTION
Our food distribution program began in 2020 to address rising food insecurity due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Through our partnership with the Palm Beach County Food Bank, we are able to distribute 8,000 boxes of food to families in-need every month. Our distribution days are every Tuesday and Friday. Overall, we seek to address the hardships our families are facing each day, while supporting them in building a healthier future that is self-sustaining.
ALLEVIATING HUNGER
In 2023, 17% of the Latino population in Palm Beach County faced food insecurity. That same year, 46% of indigenous people throughout the United States suffered from similar food scarcity (Feeding America, 2025). We have implemented a well-rounded approach to address both immediate and long-term food insecurity. In our long-term focus, our Outreach & Family Assistance program supports families in applying to SNAP, Food Stamps, and Medicaid daily, so that they can have increased access to food and healthcare. Through our Clinica Maya, we offer nutrition classes, a community garden, and support with health education and management. To address immediate needs, our Food Pantry offers nutritious food and recipes to families. We aim to address the root causes of hunger among our families, while also supporting them day-to-day.
FOOD PANTRY
We distribute food to over 1,000 extremely low-income individuals every Tuesday and Friday. Our program is made possible through the support of Palm Beach County Food Bank, as well as other corporate and individual donors and volunteers. If you would like to donate or volunteer, please contact Guillermo at gcarrasco@guatemalanmaya.org for more information.
