COMMUNITY
GROUPS

The Escuelita Maya was founded to provide afterschool educational support to the children of migrant workers. It has expanded to two locations, serving over 120 children in its preschool, aftercare, and summer camp programs.

CIRCULOS

DE MUJERES

Founded in 2002, SALTT (Service and Learning Today and Tomorrow) originally began as a program for students at Immaculata La Salle High School to learn leadership and service skills through volunteering at our Escuelita Maya program and leading an annual Summer Camp. Since then, SALTT has expanded to the GMC, where all high schoolers in the Lake Worth area are welcome to get involved in year-round service and in leading their own Summer Camp at the Escuelita Maya.

CHARLAS DE MAMAS

Since 1998, we’ve provided affordable after-school and summer care that supports students' physical, social, and emotional development. Through field trips, cultural activities, and academic lessons, we teach our children how to curiously engage with the world and others. Originally offered exclusively to children in Elementary School, our program has expanded in 2025 to support Middle School students as well.

SALTT CLUB / YOUTH GROUP

Founded in 2002, SALTT (Service and Learning Today and Tomorrow) originally began as a program for students at Immaculata La Salle High School in Miami to learn leadership and service skills through volunteering at our Escuelita Maya program. Since then, SALTT has expanded to the GMC, where all high schoolers in the Lake Worth area are welcome to get involved in year-round service and in leading their own Summer Camp at the Escuelita Maya.

In addition to performing service, students involved with SALTT Club at the GMC also participate in cultural and artistic activities, advocacy campaigns, and fun field trips year-round. We provide free tutoring, resume support, and IT job training to all our members.

VOLUNTEER

Our aftercare program also offers the unique opportunity for our children to get personalized and individual one-on-one tutoring. This award winning program is made entirely possible through the work of our wonderful volunteers. If you are an adult and would like to be a tutor, please feel free to email our Tutoring Director, Mr. Barry at bglaz@guatemalanmaya.org for more information.

If you are a high school student in Lake Worth Beach and would like to join our SALTT Youth Group and volunteer as a camp counselor, email Mayra at mcardenas@guatemalanmaya.org for more information.
