ESCUELITA MAYA

The Escuelita Maya began as a way to serve the children of farmworkers and day laborers, bridging the line of communication between our families and the school system. Every day we work to improve the education of our students, while also identifying the specific needs of their families and connecting them with appropriate resources.

AFTER SCHOOL CARE

Since 1998, we've provided low-cost after school and summer care designed to support our students physical, social and emotional needs. We offer one-on-one tutoring, schedule homework help, encourage independent reading and teach lessons that foster empathy and engagement with the world and others.

Each summer, our children participate in various camp activities. These include free swimming lessons, fields trips, and a two week camp hosted by students from SALTT (Service and Leadership Today and Tomorrow), a service club at Immaculata-La Salle High School in Miami.

Our Escuelita Maya VPK and preschool programs were established in 2011 to help facilitate the Florida Voluntary Prekindergarten Education Program to children of families in under served communities.

The majority of our children speak Spanish or a Mayan language at home. The Escuelita Maya teaches our children English, while also encouraging a love for their home language and culture. We do so by providing culturally competent early childhood education that prepares our kids for future academic success.

For $100 a month, you can send a child in need to the Escuelita Maya at no-cost to the family!
