Outreach
The Family and Baby Outreach Program services and activities are designed to help the underserved population of the Maya community. Due to language barriers, cultural beliefs, cultural history and transportation, many of the Maya families are not aware of the many programs and services available to them through the county. Our programs seek to identify, contact, and engage individuals who are considered at risk for poor birth outcomes, child maltreatment and neglect, and possible developmental delays and provide information about the benefit and availability of services. The majority of Guatemalan Maya pregnant women and families with children ages birth through 5
rarely receive prenatal and developmental screens through traditional venues (e.g. obstetrician offices, child care, etc.) We travel to all of Palm Beach County’s Health care clinics offering our help to the Guatemala-Maya families in need of social services.
